Brenntag has inaugurated a new Innovation & Application Centre in Mumbai to strengthen its technical and development capabilities for the food and beverage sector across the region. The facility represents a significant expansion of the company’s previous laboratory infrastructure and has been purpose-built to support focused product development, faster project turnaround, and enhanced technical collaboration.

The centre houses dedicated laboratories catering to multiple food and beverage categories, expanding Brenntag’s analytical, formulation, and flavour application competencies. It is designed to function as an innovation hub integrating advanced processing, blending, and analytical systems to accelerate concept-to-commercialisation timelines.
The facility supports liquid and frozen product development, including neutral and acidified dairy, fruit and nutraceutical beverages, carbonated drinks, and ice cream applications. It is equipped with ultra-high temperature (UHT) processing systems, aseptic filling lines, and high-pressure homogenisers to enable pilot-scale trials and process validation prior to scale-up.
Application capabilities extend to confectionery, bakery, noodles and pasta, sauces and dressings, and ready-to-eat segments. Infrastructure includes industrial ovens, proofers, dough moulders, wafer sheet lines, and confectionery equipment to optimise texture, flavour delivery, and processing performance.
The centre also facilitates bespoke ingredient blend development using pilot-scale blending systems, vibro-sifters, and particle size analysers. Analytical instrumentation—such as texture analysers, viscometers, titrators, density meters, refractometers, moisture analysers, and water activity meters—supports detailed product quality and performance assessment.
The laboratory is additionally positioned to support flavour development and optimisation for alcoholic, low-alcohol, and non-alcoholic beverages, including IMFL, wine, beer, and brewing applications.
