CSIR-CIMAP moving on to Aroma Mission 4.0

CSIR Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (CSIR-CIMAP), which received the Rastriya Vigyan Puraskar 2025 for the Aroma Mission, is all geared up to work on Aroma 4.0 Mission, to begin in April this year

“In Aroma Mission 4.0, the focus is mainly on those crops that are im ported into the country. Geranium, lavender, patchouli, citronella, salvia, AROMA MISSION and others are our priority” said CSIR-CIMAP Director, Dr. Prabodh Kumar Trivedi.

These crops are used to make essential oils that find use in per-fumes, cosmetics, and aroma-therapy for calming stress, balancing skin oil, and repelling insects. The plants themselves flavour food, make potpourri, and offer traditional remedies for skin issues, pain, and digestion, with benefits stemming from their antibacterial, anti-in-flammatory, and astringent proper-ties.
